Frances' Tribute Fund

Created by Chris 16 years ago
Sadly Frances died on the morning of Friday 2nd February 2007. She went peacefully in her sleep. We will miss you terribly Mum, but will not be sad - we are grateful that you will no longer suffer and will remember you with joy every day. Below is the message that Frances wrote for her fund. Four years ago I moved to France with my husband to start a new life. Three years later, I was diagnosed as having MND. For 18 months I had been losing my ability to speak, which has now gone altogether. I eat with difficulty and suffer with weakened hands and arms although I can walk reasonably well. I have learnt to live with this disease although it has been hard for someone like me who always enjoyed eating, drinking and debating. My new life in France was proving to be a very happy experience and I was just getting to grips with the language and now that has been taken away from me but as my photograph proves I WON’T LET THE BUGGER GET ME DOWN. This photo was taken at my 70th birthday party, which was held earlier this year. There, surrounded by my family and friends, we had a great evening. I have a wonderful family who help and support me .My husband, our six children and fourteen grandchildren all keep me going and focused. My many friends, with whom I have enjoyed good times, both in the UK and in France, have been a great inspiration to me. In the UK 5000 people each year suffer from this insidious disease and The Motor Neurone Disease Association gives out all kinds of help and advice. My daughter is setting this tribute fund on my behalf. We hope friends and relations will log on and leave a message and donation. All money raised on these pages will be earmarked as being donations made via this Tribute Fund when they reach Motor Neurone Disease Association. Simply choose one of the links above to see what you can do. If you like, you can also sign the guest book and tell other people about this service. Thank you to my dear friend Carol Joyce who ran in the London Marathon this year and raised over £500 for the Motor Nuerone Disease Association and this tribute fund. Also my darling daughter Christina who gave up her expensive birthday presents in lieu of a donation to my fund. Thanks you both very much. I love you both. Finally thank you to all of you who have donated, whether through sponsership or by giving directly to the fund. Kind Regards, Frances Lowe
